2005 UPDATES

OCTOBER / NOVEMBER  
My brother, Neil and my Sister, Sheila flew all the way to Scotland at the beginning of October and managed to pull off a complete surprise.
My cousin, actor Lewis MacLeoud (He is Euan to us...Lewis is his stage name) was getting married and he had no idea we were coming.
It took a lot of conspiring, believe me. He had been sorely disappointed that we "weren't going to be able to make it", but he understood.
It's a long way to go and all. What a shock he had when we walked in!! He said that there are only a  few moments in your life that are truly
special because if you had lots and lots of them you would collapse of a heart attack. Our visit was one of those moments. We had a blast
visiting relatives and even discovered a few that we didn't know about. We trekked up to the Highlands and visited Castle Menzies in Weem,
our ancestral family seat. Weary when we got back...but well worth the trip!

In December my "Sound of Music" brothers and sisters united in NYC to promote the 40th anniversary of the Movies' DVD release.
It's always a joy to see everyone together. We get together individually quite often, but it's hard to get everyone in the same room
at the same time. We all lead pretty diverse lives. 20th Century Fox hosted a party at Tavern on the Green and Al Roker interviewed
most of us. We had a red carpet media blitz welcome. Christopher Plummer didn't make it because he was filming but Julie Andrews
was there. We hadn't seen her in ages!
 
Good Morning America had us on and it was wonderful to see Charlie Gibson who was a neighbor of mine in Park City, Utah and a
good friend of my late husband.

Angela and stayed on for a few days with our dear friend Judy Rice and did a bit of Christmas shopping in the Big Apple.
We saw "The Odd Couple" with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

Ryan and his family made it down for Thanksgiving! Christmas is around the corner!

 THE SOUND OF MUSIC 40TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION

JULY 2005 My Sound of Music family had the wonderful pleasure of getting together for the 40th anniversary of the release of the movie. A great time was had at my house for a reunion party. Christopher Cartwright (that's Angela's brother) catered it and the food was more than scrumsdelicious! The surprise of the evening was the presence of Nicholas Hammond's mom, Eileen Hammond and Angela's parents John and Margaret. They hadn't seen each other in 40 years! They were all on the shoot the entire time and were an intrical part of our extended SOM family. It was a true family reunion!!!!! Lots of memories and stories were shared. There were lots of laughs and good tears were shed. And the good part is we got it all on video! Perhaps we can share all of the videos we have with the public some day! The following evening we all went to The Sound of Music Sing A Long at the Hollywood Bowl. We joined 18 thousand fans in celebrating the success of the movie.


    
MAY 2005 Lana Urich is born to proud parents Ryan and Mikki on May 20...1:15 pm 

 

 
 
 
 
 
MAY 2005  Exciting things happening within my family. I am going to be a Grandmother again. 
My son Ryan and his lovely new wife Mikki are expecting their first child soon and family and friends
gathered together in true Urich style to celebrate the exciting event. My daughter Emily and her daughter
Michelle flew in for the happy event.  
APRIL 2005      April 29th through May 1st at the Sheraton Meadowlands in New Jersey. 

     Fans brought me all sorts of 'Logans Run' and 'Sssss' items to sign.

Angela and I sign 'Sound of Music' items and find time to visit good friends in the NYC like Judy from the West side.

I also visited Designer Donald Deal who created my dress for an upcoming event.
